By this time, the entire world would have seen the Sivaji videos in Spain. But the music in this one is just awesome.

Creates huge expectations from ARR.

Pudhupettai - Sunday update

A flashy looking, macho bike starts from Pudupettai. Every aspect the vehicle impresses you, as the bike races ahead of all the others on the road. Before long you feel that the maker is indeed a genius.

Then comes a signal, at which point you are impressed to no end.

03poster

The signal goes green and the vehicle starts. But something troubles you. The vehicle is not picking up speed. You see that the vehicle is dragging itself to a different course. Oops... Both the tyres have gone flat.

Then what? The vehicle loses momentum and its accessories begin to fall off. After an intolerable length of time and having lost many of the add-ons, the vehicle comes to a standstill, just 10 metres before the destination.

Someone tries to kickstart it. But the lever goes down in the clock-wise direction. Someone tries to honk. But there is no horn.

You step backwards to get a better look of the vehicle. Gosh!!! There is a bell in the handbar and the kickstart lever is actually a pedal.

After all it was a bi-cycle.

P.S: Selvaraghavan makes you follow his moods. Both when he excels in the first half and sleeps in the second. Yuvan is getting better and better.

On the whole...
1st half - Pudhupettai
2nd half - Pazhaya Vannarapettai

Update on Sunday 28th:
One of my friends who risked the movie for the second time on sunday, said that about 30 minutes of movie has been edited out in the second half.

And these scenes include
- Dhanush talking with Sneha on her deathbed.
- Dhanush asking Sonia Agarwal to help him get his kid back.
- Dhanush leaving his child in dust bin and talking to the lady who adopts it.
- Dhanush going in the bus, getting wild and breaking a scare crow in a field.
- Dhanush hugging the villain and crying after killing him.
- Reading out the names of candidates at the party office.
Each of these scenes were about 5 minutes in length.

The movie runs for about 2 hours and 20 minutes now.

Lesser-vation

Respected Minister *************,

I am a final year Engineering student, belonging to OBC category. I am thankful to the government for implementing reservations for backward communities.

The first time I witnessed the use of reservations was during my admissions to professional institution. One of my friend belonging to the OC category was 500 ranks ahead of me. Yet he could not get a seat in the college that I am currently studying. Thanks to reservation again. He was always ahead of me in the school and "Reservation" gave me a chance to get the better of him for once. I heard that he is studying in some low ranked college.

I have written my GRE exams to pursue my higher studies abroad. And shockingly I find that none of the US universities have reservations for OBC students. This is grossly unfair and is a discriminating attitide shown by the American universities. I request the Government to urge the US universities to reserve 27% of their seats for OBC students.

All is not over yet. Inspite of these reservations, we face some difficulties. When we go to Satyam complex to watch movies during weekends, we find that the tickets are not available because of advance booking. Hence I request that the Government should enforce 27% reservation for OBCs in theatre complexes also.

Further as backward communities are often associated with economic backwardness also, I request that the theatres should give tickets to OBCs at concession rates and should provide free popcorn and Pepsi during the interval.

Long live "Reservations"

'Reservations' about the reservation

When someone is denied an opportunity to study in an institution inspite of his/her ability, just because he/she was from an upper class by birth, it is ridiculous.

I wonder why - 7

Thanneer thanneer

Its a well-known fact that Mallus use water lavishly. They bathe for hours, and use enormous water for washing. But sometimes it is irritating to see how insensible some of them are.

A guy I saw today was running the tap in full flow, even while combing his hair. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I wonder why, these people waste one of the most precious resources on Earth and that too in a city like Chennai. Is it ignorance, indifference or both?

Einstein's Puzzle

I think many of you would have come across this puzzle. Its an awesome puzzle supposed to be written by Albert Einstein. Some say it was written by Lewis Carroll

Here is the original puzzle in case you want to avoid the spoilers.
  1. There are five houses.
  2. The Englishman lives in the red house.
  3. The Spaniard owns the dog.
  4. Coffee is drunk in the green house.
  5. The Ukrainian drinks tea.
  6. The green house is immediately to the right of the ivory house.
  7. The Old Gold smoker owns snails.
  8. Kools are smoked in the yellow house.
  9. Milk is drunk in the middle house.
  10. The Norwegian lives in the first house.
  11. The man who smokes Chesterfields lives in the house next to the man with the fox.
  12. Kools are smoked in the house next to the house where the horse is kept.
  13. The Lucky Strike smoker drinks orange juice.
  14. The Japanese smokes Parliaments.
  15. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.
Now, who drinks water? Who owns the zebra?
The first print version of this puzzle is available as pdf here.

It took quite some time for me to solve this. But the "intellectual orgasm" (borrowed this term from one of my crossword friends) it gives is worth it.

Interestingly enough, it is said that only 2% of the entire world population has managed to solve this puzzle so far. And that is more than an inspiration to solve this.

Happy solving :)

Accuracy

CNN-IBN and The Hindu have hit the nail with their predictions. See the comparison between their exit polls and the actual results.

Da Vinci Code Quest

Yay.... I completed all the 24 puzzles of The Da Vinci Code Quest on Google.

da_vinci_code

It was lots of fun and thrill to solve these puzzles, especially the Sudoku kind of puzzle, Chess and the Google map jigsaw puzzles. It was the best sleep buster for me during the drowsy hours in office. Sometimes I would play a puzzle many times just for the fun of it.

I hope the producers come up with some thing like this for Harry Potter also.

Assembly Elections

Do the Election authorities verify the identification proof of the voters?

I went early in the morning and took my passport as I did not have my voters id. In the polling station, there was one Presiding Officer to supervise the proceedings. Then one Polling Officer, was reading out my voter number and name loudly so that the observers from the political parties can note down.

There was another Polling Officer, who applied(rather I should say poured) the indelible ink. Then there was one who wrote a couple of serial numbers in a piece of paper and passed it to the Officer sitting next to her, and he got a signature from me.

At last there was one Polling Officer with a gadget, instructing people to press the blue button opposite to the candidate of their choice. No one bothered to ask for my identification proof. Is this the case everywhere or was it in my polling station only?
