Birthday boy Sachin

Happy Birthday Thalai....
sachin

I can never forget the treat you gave us, 8 years back on this same day when you tormented Shane Warne.

sh4

You have given us so many things to cherish. Unforgettable moments on the field, long arguements with my friends about who is the best batsman, interesting stories to tell my grandchildren (Sharjah sandstorm ODI and Chennai test match would be interesting to tell even after generations). Thanks for all that.

I would not be surprised, if you become a cartoon character after your playing days. For its hard to imagine a world without your cricket.

Sic transit gloria mundi. I don't think he will play again like used to. But all the same,I will join you. Happy birthday, Sachin.

I agree with Balaji and Srivat. Cricket is not the same without Sachin, although India is winning. Although talented players like Dhoni and Yuvraj are there in our team, I miss Sachin a lot. His timing, his grace, his cheeky singles, his occasional reverse sweep, his trademark straight drive and cover drive, his legside glide, a gentle push which lands up in the boundary......Sachin, we miss you a lot. Here's wishing you a great birthday and a speedy recovery. I'm sure you are gonna bounce back.

And yes, Balaji, I do switch off the TV after Sachin gets out :-)

Hm, Blogsurya wants a high-achieving child. Well, well, well. We can always aspire, but we can't dictate our offspring's aspirations, only guide them best as we can. But Sachin is a role-model, yes. May he play a few more wonderful knocks!

And about a cricketer not getting his due credit or adulation, it happens in every generation, I'm afraid. Fact of life.
