Is Chennai safer?
In the wake of recent tragedy in Bangalore, I feel that Chennai might be a bit safer. One of the fellow bloggers from Bangalore who is currently in Chennai on an assinment also feels so.
She says that during her late night trips back home, her colleagues call her after sometime to find out if she has reached home safely. Moreover when she is the only passenger in the cab, they call her on her mobile and keep talking with her until she reaches home. The concern which people here have over their colleagues, seems to be missing in Bangalore.
Whatever rules we enforce and background checks we do, I feel that we are the best ones to save ourselves in such situations. And these are the small ways by which we can ensure our colleagues and friends are safe. Most of the companies have closed user groups. So a phone call shouldn't be hurting the wallet either.

chennai is safer but we cant afford to take risks.who wud have imagined such an incident wud happen in the worldclass, cosmopolitan, fastest growing, most developed, aesthetic city with a brand-image?
chennai must learn a lesson or two from b'lore(as it always does)and this lesson shud be applicable to coimbatore, madurai and trichy too(as these r future IT destinations of TN)
Yup! No place is safe. Who knows what may happen when?
Sheky,
Like how we take turns and patrol our locality during the nights to curb robbery, we can join hands with our colleagues and friends to work out a practical, workable solution rather than relying on the background checks and other factors which are beyond our control

Or better yet, girls gotta be equipped with self-defence arts, say, right from school, mayb some martial art should be included in curriculum...i think might pass off as a good long term solution...
Safe? What about that incident..where a girl was raped or murdered a few months back in Chennai?? ( again a late shift from BPO).
The chennai incident happened long back. This one is in B'lore.
